Lal bagh morning

June 7, 2011

I woke up early the other day to a cool overcast morning begging for a return visit to Lal Bagh park. I grabbed a friend of Jaaga named Hai Dai who was hanging out here and we sped off in an auto rickshaw for the park. There were no monkeys awake yet but there was an exhibition of mango and jackfruit vendors – imagine a giant farmers market with each vendor selling a different variety of mango! Hai Dai took and embellished this picture of me in front of a very hilarious display in the park consisting of Disney character lawn ornaments (see how many dwarfs you can spot)  in front of a large botanical clock (!?)

After the park we went to the very famous MTR – Mavalli Tiffin Rooms – which is a seemingly endless circuitous mass of rooms in which one can feast on delicious dosas and idlis for breakfast.

she stand leaning against the railing metal fence like a child; smiling
and her nature reflects the layers of time; just like the ground clock
accessorized by a garden of dwarfs
and she is as white as snow to me!
